Drug Formulation

Senecio (stems and leaves crushed to extract juice, then simmered in a clay pot until a paste forms) 2 liang, Fangfeng 2 liang, Jingjie 2 liang, Huangbai 2 liang, Jin Yin Hua 2 liang, Danggui 2 liang, Shidi 2 liang, Sichuan pepper 5 qian, Bai Zhi 2 liang, Da Huang 3 liang, Honghua 2 liang, Kushen 4 liang.

Processing

Soak in sesame oil for 3 days until the mixture is reduced to a black, charred consistency; strain out the residue. For every 2 bowls of oil, add 1 bowl of the Senli Guang ointment and simmer again until a drop of the mixture forms a bead when dropped into water; continue simmering until the mixture turns crimson and thickens into an ointment. Add 1 liang each of frankincense and myrrh, 3 qian of mercury oxide, and stir thoroughly with a locust tree branch before storing for use.
