Drug Formulation

1 jin of Xuanjing Stone (coarsely ground), 1 jin of Gui Fu Talc (coarsely ground), 10 liang of Coptis, 10 liang of Qinpi (finely chopped), 10 liang of Gentiana, 10 liang of Melia azedarach root, 10 liang of Gallnut, 5 liang of Angelica sinensis, 5 liang of Red Peony Root, 5 liang of Gardenia, 5 liang of Apricot Kernels,5 liang of Ruiren (crushed), 2 jin of Sophora japonica branches (cut into pieces about 3 cun long), 2 jin of willow branches (cut into pieces about 3 cun long).

Processing

For the seven ingredients from Xuanjing Stone to Gallnut, place them in a large pot with 2 large barrels of water, decoct until reduced by half, strain out the residue, filter through fine raw silk, and store in porcelain vessels; for the seven ingredients from Angelica to Willow Twigs, also use 2 barrels of water, decoct until reduced by half, strain out the residue, filter through fine raw silk, and store in porcelain vessels;Take 5 jin of white sand honey; first coat the pot with a small amount of oil, then simmer the honey over low heat until it turns purple. Combine the two decoctions prepared earlier and bring to a boil several times. Filter again through raw silk, then reduce the mixture by half. Transfer to a copper pot, add 5 liang of borax and 5 large pig gallbladders, and simmer over low heat, stirring constantly with an iron spatula until it becomes a thin paste.Coarsely grind half a liang of coral into powder; add one large bowl of water and boil for several minutes; discard the residue; add it to the half jin of the thin paste prepared earlier; then add 2 liang of calamine and 2 liang of orpiment (washed with water); stir continuously with an iron spatula until it becomes a thick paste; add 1 qian of high-quality camphor,1 qian of musk, finely ground, and mix thoroughly into the mixture. Transfer to a porcelain container.

Instructions for Use

Take one large piece of soapberry seed and an amount of cold water equivalent to half a chicken eggshell. Soak and dissolve it in a small cup, then grind it into a paste. Apply it to the eyes or use it to wash the eyes; applying it before bedtime yields remarkable results.
