5 liang of Smilax glabra, 1 liang of honeysuckle, 3 liang each of soapberry thorns, Sichuan pepper, burdock seeds, curcuma, angelica root, and black lead.

Instructions for Use

Melt the lead, add 5 qian of mercury, grind into a powder, and divide into 5 portions. Divide the other herbs into 5 doses as well. For each dose, use 2 zhan of water; decoct until reduced to 1 zhan, strain out the residue, add the lead powder, and decoct again until reduced to 8 fen. Filter thoroughly and take the decoction.For the first dose, take one decoction to induce sweating. Separately, use 1 liang of honeysuckle, and 5 qian each of Fangfeng, Jingjie, and Sichuan pepper. Decoct in 2 dou of water, then use the steam to wash the body in a draft-free area to induce sweating; this is the intended effect. For those who have suffered from this condition for 20–30 years, a cure can be achieved with just four doses and four episodes of sweating.
