Drug Formulation

1 jin of soapberry (peeled and string removed, coarsely chopped), 3 fen of ephedra (knots removed), 1 sheng of plump jujubes, and 3 qian of high-quality Beijing ink.

Processing

Take a large earthenware pot capable of holding 2 dou of water. Place the soapberry, ephedra, and Beijing ink into the pot and simmer until the liquid is reduced to 5–6 bowls. Strain out the residue, then simmer the medicinal liquid further until it becomes a paste of 2 bowls. Add the jujubes to the paste and simmer over low heat until dry, so that the medicinal properties are fully absorbed into the jujubes. Store in a clay jar and cover the jar with paper.

Instructions for Use

Consume 1 to 3–5 jujubes daily. After consumption, the wind, phlegm, and saliva will be expelled through the stool the following morning.
