Drug Formulation

1 liang of raw Aconite (peeled and with the pith removed), 1 liang of white ginger (roasted), 1 liang of licorice, and 1 liang of ginseng.

Benefits

Diarrhea consisting entirely of white stool resembling fish brains; cold pain in the navel and abdomen occurring day and night without pattern; cold extremities; or vomiting, inability to retain any food, preference for warm food and aversion to cold; the six pulses are faint and fine; in severe cases, cold extremities and the six pulses are deep and imperceptible.

Instructions for Use

Coarsely crush the ingredients. Take 4 qian per dose; boil with 2 zhan of water until reduced to 7 fen; strain and take on an empty stomach.

Note

In all cases of dysentery, even when accompanied by a cold constitution, cold extremities, spontaneous cold sweats, and deep, hidden pulses, Aconite should not be used lightly.
