Processing

Coarsely grind the ingredients into a powder and soak them in 1 jin of sesame oil for 5 days in spring, 3 days in summer, 7 days in autumn, and 10 days in winter. After soaking, simmer over a combination of high and low heat until the herbs are charred black like charcoal; then remove from heat and allow to cool naturally. Strain through a piece of coarse cloth; discard the charred herbs.Return the medicated oil to the pot to simmer. First, add 10 liang of orpiment and stir-fry it with a new tile until it turns purple. For every time the oil comes to a boil, add 2 liang of orpiment. Continue simmering until the oil has boiled five times; once all the orpiment has been added, use willow twigs to pound the mixture thoroughly, remove any fine residue, and stir well to neutralize the heat toxicity.
