Drug Formulation

15–20 g of Asparagus root, 50–100 g of japonica rice, and a small amount of rock sugar.

For patients with tuberculosis presenting symptoms of kidney yin deficiency, yin deficiency with internal heat, low body fluids and dry mouth; lung yin deficiency, lung deficiency with heat, dry cough with little or no phlegm, blood-streaked sputum, as well as low-grade fever in the afternoon and night sweats.

Instructions for Use

First, boil the Tianmen Dong to extract a concentrated decoction; strain out the residue, then add the japonica rice and cook into porridge. After it comes to a boil, add an appropriate amount of rock sugar and continue cooking until the porridge is done. One course of treatment consists of 3–5 days; take a 3-day break before resuming.

Note

This formula is not suitable for patients with cold-deficiency diarrhea or coughs caused by external invasion of wind-cold.
