Drug Formulation

1 liang of Aconite (peeled and with the pith removed; used raw), 1 liang of Red Peony Root, 1 liang of Chinese Angelica Root, 2 liang of Apricot Kernels (soaked in hot water, peeled, tips removed, and double kernels separated), 1 liang of Coptis, 4 liang of Red Willow Bark, 1 liang of Dragon’s Blood, 1 liang of Myrrh, 3 liang of Orpiment, and 2 jin of refined oil.

Processing

Finely chop the ingredients. First, place the refined oil and all the herbs in a cauldron and simmer until the mixture turns a dark yellow color. Allow to cool, then strain and filter. Next, add the yellow丹, dragon’s blood, and myrrh and simmer together, stirring continuously with a willow wood whisk. When the mixture turns black, take a small amount and drop it into water; if it forms a bead, the ointment is ready. Allow to cool, then shape into suppositories.

Instructions for Use

For chronic, foul-smelling sores caused by prolonged leukorrhea, first wash the affected area with a decoction of licorice, then apply the ointment. For abscesses and swellings, take 1 pill the size of a marble per dose, mixed with soapberry wine. Apply to abscesses and swellings caused by tooth extraction.
