Drug Formulation

2 jin of sesame oil, 2 liang of pine resin (set aside separately), 6 pieces of mace, 3 liang of Sichuan Baiyao decoction, half a liang of gallnut, 1.5 liang of chebulic myrobalan peel, half a liang of sour pomegranate peel, 2 pig gallbladders (set aside separately), 1 qian of genuine gallstone alum, and half a liang of early lotus seed pod.

Processing

Coarsely grind the ingredients listed above. First, bring the sesame oil to a boil several times in a pot; then add the ground mixture to the oil and simmer together. After a short while, pour the oil into a jar. While still slightly warm, add 1 liang of pine tar, stir, and as it cools, add the pig gallbladders, stirring until it is completely cold. Then add the following ingredients: 3 qian of Linglingxiang,3 qian of Agastache leaves, 3 qian of fragrant white angelica, 3 qian of Atractylodes, and 1 qian of musk. Stir until well blended, then seal the jar with thick paper.

Instructions for Use

Stir once daily at dawn, noon, and sunset, then reseal the jar each time. After 10 days, wash your hair thoroughly in the evening; the next morning, once your hair is dry, apply the mixture. Within a few days, your hair will turn deep black, become lustrous, fragrant, and smooth, and will never again become soiled with dust or grime, eliminating the need for further washing. An alternative formula omits the pitch and adds half a liang of Wangbuliu Xing; prepare and use according to the same method.
