Drug Formulation

20 liang of Bile-processed Pinellia, 30 liang of Gastrodia, 30 liang of Pinellia-fermented Rice, 60 liang of Talc, 60 liang of Hanshi-fermented Rice, 30 liang of Whole Scorpion, and 7 liang 5 qian of Croton Seed Powder (oil content must not exceed 10 percent).

Processing

First, grind the six ingredients—including Bile-processed Pinellia and Gastrodia—into a fine powder and sift through a sieve; grind the Croton Seed Frost into a fine powder, gradually mix it into the sifted powder, blend thoroughly, and use cold boiled water to form small pills. Coat with cinnabar; use 8 qian of cinnabar powder for every 16 liang of dry pills. Package in paper bags, with 100 pills per bag.

Indicated for acute fever with convulsions, excessive phlegm and saliva, common cold due to wind-cold, and vomiting with diarrhea.

Instructions for Use

Children aged 4–5 years should take 20 pills; those aged 10 years should take 40 pills, dissolved in plain boiled water.

Note

Contraindicated in cases of smallpox or chronic diarrhea due to spleen deficiency.
