Drug Formulation

50–60 loquat leaves (washed and dehaired), 3 large pears (peeled and cored), half a zhong of white honey (previously boiled until it forms beads when dripped), half a jin of jujubes, and 4 liang of Jian lotus seeds (with husks intact).

Processing

Decoct the loquat leaves in a sandpot; strain the liquid and discard the leaves. Then add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Spread the mixture evenly in the pot, pour the strained liquid over it until it is slightly mounded, cover tightly, and simmer for half an incense stick’s duration. Turn the mixture over, then simmer for another half an incense stick’s duration. Once the jujubes are cooked, remove their skins and store the ointment in a jar.
