Drug Formulation

White Cinnabar (collected from the residue of a clean tile kiln, calcined until red-hot, ground to a fine powder, and washed with water) half liang; Zuogu Oyster Shell 7 qian (washed, pounded with chive leaves,sealed with salt mud, calcined, and the white portion collected), Yangqishi (calcined in a crucible over high heat until glowing red, removed, quenched in wine, and left to dry in a shaded place) half liang, and refined stalactite powder 1 liang.

Processing

Grind each ingredient into an extremely fine powder, mix thoroughly, and grind for 1–2 days. Form into pills using a paste made from glutinous rice flour. Make them the size of a chicken’s head, then place them in an earthen pit to remove the fire toxicity for one night.

Instructions for Use

Take 1 pill per dose, on an empty stomach, with a concentrated decoction of ginseng soup that has been cooled; boiled water may also be used. For women with prolonged infertility, take it with wine infused with Angelica sinensis and prepared Rehmannia root; for chronic coldness, metrorrhagia and leukorrhea, deficiency syndrome, and cramping pain in the umbilical region and abdomen, take it with a decoction of mugwort and vinegar. After taking the dose, follow with a small amount of plain white rice porridge.

Note

Avoid pork and mutton blood, as well as mung bean flour, as they may neutralize the medicine’s efficacy.
