Processing

Scrape off the coarse outer skin of the Strychnos seeds with a porcelain tile, then soak them in a child’s urine for 49 days; soak the Fructus Aurantii in a child’s urine for 24 days (or just over 10 days during hot weather). After soaking, remove the pith. Place each ingredient in a separate muslin bag and rinse under running water for one day. Remove the bags, dry them thoroughly on a new tile, grind them separately into a fine powder, and store in a porcelain jar for future use, ensuring no air escapes.

Instructions for Use

When using, first soak the medicinal adjuvant (use Angelica dahurica for injuries to the head and face; Chuanxiong for the chest and diaphragm;Du Zhong for the lower back; Niuxi and Guizhi for the legs) in wine or decocted in water, then mix with 1 spoonful of yellow wine (sweet wine is also acceptable). Before bedtime, mix the powdered medicine (1 fen of Strychnos seed powder mixed evenly with 1 fen of Zhi Ke powder) and take it. For severe injuries, take 3 qian; do not exceed this dose, and add 2–3 li of musk;for milder cases, take 1–2 qian, and there is no need to add musk; adults should follow these guidelines, while doses for children should be reduced appropriately.Apply a poultice to the affected area using the same ingredients in a 2:1 ratio mixed with wine or urine. Divide the mixture into three portions; first, apply one portion while still warm. When it cools, replace it with another warm portion. Continue alternating the poultices, adding wine or urine as they dry. Stir the mixture to keep it warm, and it will relieve pain and heal the injury.
