Drug Formulation

3 qian of Pi Xiao, 3 qian of camphor, 3 qian of Perilla and Peppermint leaves (whole, not ground), 3 qian of alum.

Processing

Stack several layers of peppermint leaves in a bowl, sprinkle the remaining ingredients—ground into a fine powder—over them, cover with a small bowl, seal the opening with wheat paste, and place the bowl over a charcoal fire for the duration of one incense stick. Set it on the ground to cool completely before opening. Scrape the sublimated medicine from the bowl; repeat the sublimation and scraping process as described until the substance turns yellow and is no longer usable. Add a few li of musk and borneol, mix with honey to form an ointment, and apply as needed;Alternatively, add a small amount of calamine to the ointment and mix it with the juice extracted from Coptis root soaked in human milk—this method is also highly effective.
