Drug Formulation

Ephedra 8 liang, processed Pinellia 4 liang, Sichuan fritillary bulb 4 liang, Atractylodes macrocephala 4 liang, Poria 4 liang.

Processing

For the ephedra, use 1 jin each of six ingredients—pear, sugarcane, Chinese chives, water chestnut, lotus root, and Chinese radish—and half a jin of ginger. Extract the juice from each ingredient separately. Thoroughly mix the ephedra with the juices and sun-dry it; then steam and simmer for 3 hours, followed by sun-drying. Mix the liquid remaining in the steaming pot back into the ephedra and sun-dry again. Combine with the other herbs and grind into a fine powder;Use 10 liang of white honey, melt it thoroughly, mix with water, and form into pills the size of mung beans.

Instructions for Use

Take 1 qian each time, swallowed with hot water, twice daily. Alternatively, wrap 3–5 qian in silk and decoct for oral administration.
