Rushing Qi Decoction

Rushing Qi Decoction,Ben-tun syndrome arises from sudden fright, terror, or persistent worry; the qi surges downward in fits and starts, rushing between the heart, chest, and navel, with periodic, throbbing pulsations. If left untreated, it is fatal. When the qi surges upward into the chest and diaphragm, various symptoms manifest: a sense of fullness and shortness of breath prevent sleep; severe distress and a desire to die; cold, damp qi in the abdomen; and intestinal rumbling that follows one another, forming qi stagnation.

Drug Formulation

2 liang of licorice, 2 liang of ginseng, 2 liang of cinnamon bark, 1 sheng of Chinese bayberry, 1 jin of fresh ginger, and 1 sheng of Pinellia.

Instructions for Use

Boil 1 dou of water down to 3 sheng, and divide it into three doses.

Note

Avoid mutton, malt syrup, raw green onions, seaweed, and Chinese cabbage.
