Drug Formulation

Ginseng (ground separately) 5 qian, Prepared Rehmannia Root 5 qian, Astragalus 5 qian, Acanthopanax Bark (with coarse outer bark removed) 5 qian, Prepared Aconite Root (with skin and pith removed) 3 qian, Angelica Root 3 qian, Sichuan Dipsacus Root 3 qian, Sichuan Achyranthes Root 3 qian, Cinnamon Bark (if unavailable, substitute with thick Cinnamon Bark) 3 qian, Apricot Kernels (with skin and tip removed) 1 qian 5 fen,Angelica dahurica (with tips removed) 1 qian 5 fen.

Processing

Combine the above ingredients with 1 jin of sesame oil and simmer until the herbs are completely dried out. Strain to remove the residue. Return the oil to a clean pot, add powdered ginseng, and simmer over low heat until a drop of the mixture forms a bead that does not disperse. Add 6 liang of roasted Fei Huang Dan, then remove from heat. Pour the mixture into water to neutralize the heat toxicity, and store tightly sealed in a porcelain jar.
