Drug Formulation

4 liang of Yaxiao, 4 liang of green alum (both ingredients stir-fried with rice wine), 4 liang of white alum (place all together in a jar, seal tightly with clay, calcine for the duration of two incense sticks, then remove and grind into an extremely fine powder), 2 liang of mercury,2 liang of black lead (melted in an iron ladle, calcined, and ground into a fine powder), 5 qian of bile alum (ground separately into an extremely fine powder), 2 liang of Sichuan pepper (ground separately), 2 liang of apricot kernels (peeled and de-tipped, ground separately), 2 liang of Cnidium monnieri seeds (ground separately), 2 liang of Pinellia tuber, 2 liang of sulfur (ground separately),betel nut (soaked in water overnight, thinly sliced, ground with water 2–3 times, then sun-dried along with the water) 2 liang, du mu jie (shell removed, thinly sliced, ground separately) 2 liang, realgar (ground separately) 2 liang, da feng zi (shell removed, thinly sliced) 3 liang, oil walnuts 3 liang (these two ingredients ground together), and 2 jin of camellia oil candles.

Processing

Grind each ingredient into an extremely fine powder, mix thoroughly, melt the tung oil, and form into pills.

Instructions for Use

Prepare a decoction with Sichuan pepper, scallion whites, and licorice to wash away the pus and scabs; pat dry with soft silk before applying the medicine. Knead the mixture in your hands until soft, then rub it onto the affected area; results are typically seen after 2–3 applications.

Note

Avoid chicken, goose, mutton, pig’s head, intestines, and trotters, as well as spicy and toxic foods.
