Drug Formulation

1 liang of sulfur, 1 liang of mercury (combined with sulfur to form cinnabar), 1 liang of native copper, 1 liang of realgar, 1 liang of cinnabar, 1 liang of lead frost, 1 liang of barium sulfate, 1 liang of yellow lead oxide, 1 liang of sodium carbonate (Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, place them in a porcelain jar, seal it tightly with paper-fiber-reinforced salt clay,drill one hole in the lid, seal the edges with clay, and wait until completely dry. Use 3 jin of charcoal fire to gradually expel all Yin energy; seal the hole tightly with clay. Continue burning with 10 jin of charcoal until the contents turn completely red. Once slightly cooled, cover the bottle with 3–2 dou of damp sand to prevent air from entering,After one cycle, remove it, spread it out on damp, good-quality paper, cover it with a basin overnight to remove the heat toxicity, then grind it to a very fine powder), 2 liang of Gastrodia elata, 2 liang of white silkworm pupae (lightly roasted), 2 liang of Notopterygium,1 liang of Cinnamon Bark, 1 liang of Rhinoceros Horn shavings, 1 liang of Donkey-hide Gelatin (crushed before being stir-fried until yellow and dry), 2 liang of Ligusticum root, 2 liang of White Aconite Root (roasted until cracked), 2 liang of Tiannanxing (roasted until cracked), 2 liang of Aconite Root (roasted until cracked, with skin and pith removed), 1 liang of Dried Scorpion (lightly roasted),1 liang of Ephedra (with roots and nodes removed), 1 liang of Sichuan Aconite (with skin and pith removed, coarsely chopped, mixed with wine, and stir-fried until golden), half a liang of White Borneol, half a liang of Musk, and half a liang of Ox Bile.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Add the previously prepared herbal powders and borneol, then grind everything together until uniformly fine. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of a chicken’s egg.
