Drug Formulation

1 sheng of ginger juice, 5 sheng of raw Rehmannia root juice, 2 jin of honey (filtered through cotton), 3 sheng of raw Ophiopogon tuber juice, 1 sheng of marrow from ox shin bone, 4 liang of Poria (with woody core removed), 4 liang of licorice (roasted),Dendrobium (root removed) 4 liang, Coptis (stems removed) 4 liang, Trichosanthes root 5 liang, Schisandra (lightly roasted) 2 liang, Anemarrhena (baked) 2 liang, Ginseng 2 liang, Angelica sinensis (sliced, baked) 2 liang,Salvia miltiorrhiza 2 liang, Cistanche deserticola (soaked in wine, sliced, and baked) 3 liang (excluding the first 5 ingredients, the remaining 11 ingredients—including Poria—are ground into a fine powder), Lycium bark (chopped) 2 sheng, sesame seeds 2 sheng, Asarum (chopped) 5 liang, raw bamboo root (chopped) 3 sheng.

Processing

First, use 1 dou 5 sheng of water to decoct the 4 ingredients including Lycium bark until the liquid is reduced to 4 sheng; strain out the residue. Add Ophiopogon tuber and Rehmannia root juice, then decoct for another 5–6 boils. Next, add honey, bone marrow, and ginger juice, and decoct further until the volume is reduced to 7 sheng to form a paste of appropriate consistency. Mix in the previously prepared herbal powder and shape into pills the size of a Paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 30 pills at a time, washed down with bamboo leaf decoction, at any time of day.
