Drug Formulation

Neem branches, as needed (peeled); willow branches, as needed (peeled); locust branches, as needed (peeled); peach branches, as needed (peeled); red toon branches, as needed (peeled); genuine sesame oil, 1 jin;6 liang of tung oil, 2 qian of Angelica sinensis, 2 qian of Angelica dahurica, 2 qian of Sanguisorba officinalis, 2 qian of licorice, 1 jin of pig bristles, half a liang of orpiment, 3 qian of frankincense (ground into powder), and 3 qian of myrrh (ground into powder).

Processing

First, simmer the first five branches in the sesame oil and tung oil until charred; remove the dregs and clarify the mixture. Then add the four herbs—Angelica sinensis, Angelica dahurica, Sanguisorba officinalis, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis—and simmer until the dregs are removed and the mixture is clarified. Next, add the pig bristles and simmer until dissolved. For every liang of oil, add half a liang of orpiment; stir thoroughly with a locust twig. Finally, add the powdered frankincense and myrrh, simmer together until a paste forms, pour into water, wring out 100 times, and store in a bowl.
