5 liang of white quartz, 10 liang of gold, 4 liang of silver, and 5 liang of ginseng (with the root tip removed).

Processing

Take an iron cauldron and wash it thoroughly. Place the aforementioned herbs into the cauldron. First, add 3 sheng of water. Take a long wooden stick and insert it into the cauldron until it reaches the bottom; mark the level where the water touches the stick. Then add another 2 dou 7 sheng of water,for a total of 3 dou including the previous amount. Simmer over low heat until the liquid bubbles like fish eyes, then gradually reduce the liquid until it reaches the mark made by the stick. Immediately turn off the heat, quickly place damp earth on the bottom of the cauldron, remove the dregs, and collect the liquid, storing it in a non-porous container.
