Drug Formulation

2 liang of refined dried alum (Northern alum or crimson alum is best; if unavailable, use clear Southern alum), Pinellia (processed with ginger overnight),Tiannanxing (sliced, rubbed with soapberry, soaked in water overnight, then simmered in a cauldron the next day until all the water has evaporated), 1 liang of white silkworm pupae (half a liang used raw, half a liang soaked in rice vinegar overnight).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; form into pills the size of a tung tree seed using ginger juice as a binder; water-based pills may also be used.

Instructions for Use

Take 15 to 20 pills per dose, washed down with ginger soup; for a blocked throat, use 2 mint leaves soaked briefly in freshly drawn water; chew the mint and swallow the medicine, then wash it down with water; if the patient cannot swallow, immediately grind 15 pills into a fine powder, mix with soapberry water, and administer orally;For acute and chronic convulsions in children accompanied by locked jaws that cannot be opened, apply a paste made with soapberry water to the gums; once it enters the throat, the child will recover.
