Drug Formulation

3 sheng of pork fat, 2 sheng of beef marrow, 5 sheng of oil, 3 sheng of ginger juice, 3 sheng of raw rehmannia juice, 4 fen of angelica root, 4 fen of Sichuan pepper (sweated), 5 he of evodia fruit, 5 fen of cinnamon bark, 5 fen of ginseng, 7 fen of schisandra berries, 5 fen of ligusticum root, 7 fen of dried rehmannia root, and 5 fen of polygala bark.

Processing

Grind the nine herbs into a powder; take the five ingredients—lard, bone marrow, etc.—and their juices, add 1 dou of water, and simmer together until all the water and herbal juices have evaporated, leaving only the fat. Allow it to cool slightly, then add the powder and stir until well blended. Simmer over the fire, raising and lowering the pot three times each, then transfer to a dry container to solidify; once cooled, it forms a cake.

Instructions for Use

Take a piece the size of a square inch each time, warm it with 1 sheng of clear wine, and take it orally. Take two doses during the day and one at night.

Note

Avoid raw scallions and wild fennel.
