Formulas Name : Turtle Shell, Cypress, and Rehmannia Decoction

Chinese Name : 龟柏地黄汤

Drug Formulation

4 qian of raw turtle shell (pounded), 3 qian of raw white peony root, 5 qian of well-prepared rehmannia root (mixed with 3 fen of amomum and pounded), 6 fen of raw Sichuan cypress bark (stir-fried with vinegar), 1.5 qian of powdered moutan bark, 1 qian of corni fruit, 3 qian of Huai yam (pounded), 3 qian of Chen fu shen, and 8 fen of rock salt and aged tangerine peel.

Note

This formula is only suitable for patients whose stomach qi is still strong enough to process the medicinal properties of the herbs. If the patient’s stomach qi is already weak, the primary priority must be to nourish the stomach, strengthen the middle jiao, and restore stomach qi; this formula should not be administered lightly.
