Drug Formulation

Cinnamon Twig (peeled) 3 qian 5 fen, Peony Root (remove one layer of yellow-red skin; mix with honey water, steam three times, sun-dry three times, bake until dry, and crush into coarse pieces) 6 qian,Ginger (sliced) 7 qian, jujubes 4 (split open), unhusked rice 1 he (rinsed), licorice (remove the top and bottom tips, each 3 cun; cut into 5-cun lengths; soak in good wine overnight; slowly roast over willow wood fire until both inside and outside are dry; crush into small pieces) 7 qian 5 fen,Gypsum (select pure white, needle-like crystals; grind extremely fine; wash three times with licorice water; clarify and discard the water; sun-dry and grind again) 2 liang 5 qian, Anemarrhena (finely chopped on a locust wood cutting board; pounded several thousand times in a dry wooden mortar and pestle; do not use iron utensils) 7 qian 5 fen.

Instructions for Use

Using 3 sheng 5 he of water, first boil the unhusked rice until the volume is reduced by half a sheng; remove the rice, add the aforementioned herbs, and boil until the volume is reduced to 1 sheng 2 he. Divide the decoction into two doses and take them warm; take one dose before the onset of symptoms and another just as symptoms are about to appear.
