Cinnabar Pill for Sucking

Cinnabar Pill for Sucking,

Formulas Name : Cinnabar Pill for Sucking

Chinese Name : 含化朱砂丹

Drug Formulation

3 liang of cinnabar, 3 liang of horse-tooth calcite, and 2 liang of calcined stone.

Source

From *Shenghui*, Volume 95.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder and place it in a porcelain jar. Line the jar’s opening with three layers of fine, double-folded paper, seal it tightly, and place it in a double boiler. Maintain a gentle boil—like fish-eye bubbles—and top up with hot water as needed to prevent the water from running dry, without turning off the heat. After 21 full days and nights, open the jar; the calcium carbonate will have adhered to the inner walls of the jar. Collect it and grind it into a fine powder.

Instructions for Use

Take as directed; the cinnabar will be found at the center. Remove it and grind it finely. Place it in a small porcelain box, seal it tightly, and warm it over low heat for one day. Add one jin of charcoal, calcine until it turns completely red, let it cool, open the box, and grind it finely again. Form into pills using date pulp; each liang of cinnabar yields 360 pills. Dissolve one pill in the mouth every morning.

Note

Avoid sheep’s blood and salt water.
