Drug Formulation

2 liang of cold water stone (ground into a fine powder; known as “soft gypsum”; to prepare, select a night of a full moon, bury it in the ground with the top exposed to the sky for three days and nights, cover with a thin layer of soil to absorb the moonlight, then remove it without exposing it to fire, and grind it), 1 liang of clear sesame oil, 1 liang of beeswax, 1 liang of yellow丹, and 2 liang of liquidambar resin.

Processing

Prepare as described above, boiling until a thin paste forms. Lift the medicinal pot and wait until no smoke remains; then add the cold water stone powder and mix thoroughly and quickly. Expose to the moonlight for three nights, and store indoors during the day.

If a yang syndrome manifests as a hot back sore, this formula produces immediate results; regardless of whether the sore has ruptured or not, the poultice feels as cool as ice upon application.
