Drug Formulation

Daqing (ground separately) 1 liang, sodium carbonate 5 jin (added after decoction), cinnabar (ground separately) half a liang, white mulberry root bark 1 liang, antelope horn (chopped) half a liang, Sufang wood 2 liang,15 Gardenia seeds, 1 liang Sophora japonica flowers, 1.5 liang Cimicifuga, 1 handful Bamboo leaves, 15 Terminalia chebula fruits (pitted), 5 Areca nuts (chopped), 5 Areca nuts (chopped).

Processing

Except for cinnabar and lapis lazuli, which should be ground separately, coarsely grind the remaining herbs. Soak them in 1 dou of water overnight, then decoct until reduced to 5 sheng. Strain out the residue, transfer the liquid to a silver-lined pot, and immediately add sodium carbonate, cinnabar, and lapis lazuli. Stir continuously without stopping until all the liquid has evaporated, at which point “Red Snow” is formed. Place it in a porcelain container; remove it after three days, pound and sift it into a fine powder, and store it in a porcelain jar, ensuring no air escapes.

Instructions for Use

Take 2 qian bi per dose; for children, half a qian bi. Take before bedtime, mixed with warm water.
