Drug Formulation

6 qian of Angelica sinensis root tip, 8 qian of softshell turtle shell, 4 qian of croton seed (ground), 4 qian of Coptis, 4 qian of Acorus tatarinowii, 4 qian of Curcuma zedoaria, 1 liang 2 qian of pangolin scales, 1 qian of fingernail (simmer all the above herbs in 1 jin 5 liang of sesame oil and half a jin of pure cinnabar until a paste forms), 4 qian of borax, 4 qian of realgar, 6 qian of asafoetida (roasted and ground), 1 fen of musk,Korean Ginseng 4 qian, Notoginseng 4 qian, Cinnamon Bark 8 qian, Leeches 2 qian (Leeches should be collected by local villagers during the Huangmei season, dried in an oven, ground into powder, and set aside for use. Do not use yellow leeches; instead, use the black variety, which is slightly larger than a common leech).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, mix it into the ointment, and apply it using dog skin (if dog skin is unavailable, cloth may be used instead).

Instructions for Use

Before applying, boil water with Pi Xiao (a type of Chinese herb), dip cotton in the solution, and rub the affected area until the solution penetrates; wipe dry, then rub with sliced ginger, and finally apply the plaster.

Note

Avoid all fish without scales, buckwheat, purslane, cucumbers, and raw or cold foods.
