Drug Formulation

Acacia branches (coarsely chopped) 2 liang, Qinpi (chopped) half a liang, Coptis (stems removed) half a liang, Gardenia seeds (shells removed) half a liang, Ma Yaxiao half a liang, Phellodendron bark (coarse outer bark removed, chopped) half a liang, Gardenia fruit (peel removed) half a liang, 14 ancient coins, 1 fen of salt, and a handful of bamboo leaves (finely chopped).

Processing

Grind all the above herbs, except for the coins, into a coarse powder.

For acute red eye with blurred vision, pain, and a sensation of fullness accompanied by tearing.

Instructions for Use

Take 5 qian of the mixture, add 1 zhan of water, and simmer with the coins until reduced to 1.5 zhan. Strain out the residue, let it cool to a warm temperature, and use it to wash the eyes. If it cools, reheat it and wash again.
