Drug Formulation

3 qian of asafoetida, 2 centipedes (roasted), 3 qian of whole scorpions (roasted), 3 qian of borax, 3 qian of dragon’s blood, 2 liang of gardenia (ground into powder; 5 liang is also acceptable), 2 liang of rhubarb,Aloe vera 3 qian, realgar 2 qian, Coptis chinensis 2 qian, borax 3 qian (all ingredients must be authentic; grind into a fine powder before use).

Processing

Combine 5 qian of honey, 2 liang of pi xiao, 2 liang of radish juice, 1 black dog’s brain, 2 liang of boiling-hot wine lees, 2 liang of scallion white juice, and the whites of 2 eggs. Mix all these liquids with the powdered herbs to form a paste.

Instructions for Use

Apply 3 or 5 qian of the paste to a piece of unbleached cloth, wrap the cloth around the affected area, and have a patient, patient person who has lived for a full year apply gentle heat with an iron over a low flame day and night, slowly applying heat. Leave each application on for one full day and night; apply another application after 3–5 days. The treatment is effective when pus and blood appear in the stool. After the mass has dissipated, take tonic herbs. Cases that have previously undergone acupuncture or where the condition is severe are difficult to treat.

Note
