Source

*Zhun Sheng: Categorized Formulas*, Volume 7.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Add water and Coptis rhizome and boil down to just over 10 million times the original volume. Then, refine with honey to remove the white foam, add the powder, and simmer together until it forms a paste. Since willow twigs make stirring difficult, strain them out and add the resulting paste to the mixture;Next, grind 1 liang of Coptis into a fine powder, add water, and simmer in a copper pot until reduced to a paste. Strain out the residue, mix the clear liquid with the previous honey-based preparation, place the mixture in a porcelain bowl set over the mouth of a soup pot, and steam until it forms a paste. Stir continuously with the acacia and willow twigs—alternating between them until thoroughly mixed—then strain to remove any residual heat toxicity.
