Drug Formulation

10 liang of cinnabar (free of impurities), 10 jin of honey, 1 liang of ginseng, 1 liang of Poria cocos, 1 liang of Atractylodes macrocephala, 1 liang of Aconite root, 1 liang of Sichuan pepper, 1 liang of Epimedium, 1 liang of Gentiana root, 1 liang of white peony root, 1 liang of prepared rehmannia root, 1 liang of astragalus root,1 liang of Cistanche, 1 liang of Polygala, 1 liang of Morinda, 1 liang of Cuscuta, 1 liang of Dendrobium, 1 liang of Cuscuta, 1 liang of Amomum, 1 liang of Schisandra, 1 liang of Cypress Seed, 1 liang of Yellow Chrysanthemum, 1 liang of Rubus, 1 liang of Ophiopogon, and 1 liang of Lycium.

Processing

Finely chop the ingredients; take half of each and place them in a jar. Fill a silk bag with 10 liang of well-formed sand, suspend it from a bamboo strip at the mouth of the jar using hemp thread, and pour river water into the jar until it is half full. Simmer in a double boiler for three days and nights. Remove the contents and allow them to dry. Then add 10 jin of honey along with the remaining half of the aforementioned herbs, pour the mixture into the honey, and stir until well blended. Return the mixture to the bag of sand and suspend it as before.simmer in river water for 15 days and nights. Remove and bake until dry, then grind into a fine powder. Shape into pills using the pointed corners of glutinous rice zongzi, each the size of a paulownia seed.

Take 5–7 pills per dose on an empty stomach, washed down with a decoction of ginseng or jujube.
