Benefits

For yin deficiency with consumptive disease, accompanied by cough, phlegm, and wheezing.

Instructions for Use

Take 1 old duck, pluck the feathers, wash it in its own broth, remove the internal organs, and ensure it does not come into contact with water again. Add the above herbs along with 1 bowl of aged sweet rice wine and 3 wine glasses of sun-dried soy sauce to the duck’s cavity, then sew it tightly shut. Place the duck in a basin covered with a earthenware lid; do not add water to the basin. Cover it securely, seal the seam of the lid with cotton paper, and place it in a pot—again, without adding water—then cover the pot tightly.Tie 3 jin of rice straw into small bundles and place them directly against the center of the pot; simmer slowly. If the pot becomes too hot, pause briefly before resuming heating. Once the straw has burned out and the duck is tender, the patient may eat and drink; then take the remedy with aged wine.
