Drug Formulation

10 liang of Angelica sinensis, 5 liang of Paeonia lactiflora, 8 liang of Rehmannia glutinosa, 3 liang of Glycyrrhiza uralensis, 6 liang of Dipsacus asper, 5 liang of Astragalus membranaceus, 6 liang of Atractylodes macrocephala (roasted), 5 liang of Cistanche deserticola (roasted), 1 liang of Aquilaria agallocha, 10 liang of Scutellaria baicalensis, and 10 liang of Leonurus japonicus.

Processing

Chop the above herbs as appropriate; for each pot, use 48 liang of the mixture and 240 liang of sesame oil. Simmer until the mixture turns dry and black, then filter through an iron mesh sieve to remove the dregs. Continue boiling and refining until a drop of the mixture forms a bead when dropped into water.Add 100 liang of cinnabar; remove the mixture and place it in cold water to remove the heat toxicity. After heating to melt it, add 3 liang of dragon bone powder, stir well, and spread into sheets. Each sheet should weigh 5 qian in oil and be polished to a glossy finish.
