Qingli Zikan Decoction,This formula is indicated for symptoms of yin deficiency with internal heat and consumptive disease resulting from excessive sexual activity. Symptoms include fever, cough, sputum production, shortness of breath, night sweats, heat in the palms and soles, hemoptysis, epistaxis, hoarseness, nocturnal emissions, tinnitus, and blurred vision; the six pulses are deep, rapid, and涩 (thready); as well as dizziness and red or white, turbid vaginal discharge associated with yin deficiency and internal heat.

Drug Formulation

1 qian of Huai Sheng Di Huang, 1 qian of Shu Di Huang, 1 qian of Ophiopogon (core removed), 1 qian of Angelica (washed with wine), 1 qian of White Peony (stir-fried with wine), 1 qian of Huai Shan Yao, 6 fen of Moutan Bark, 3 fen of Fried Licorice, 1 qian of Asparagus (core removed), 1 qian of White Poria (peeled),Cornus officinalis (steamed in wine, pitted) 1 qian, Atractylodes macrocephala (stem removed, stir-fried with earth) 1 qian, Alisma orientale (stir-fried) 5 fen, Phellodendron amurense (stir-fried with honey) 5 fen, Anemarrhena asphodeloides 5 fen.

Instructions for Use

Add fresh ginger and jujubes, decoct in water, and take while warm. If phlegm is abundant, add bamboo sap and ginger juice; if heat is severe, add children’s urine or human breast milk to the decoction.
