Ginseng and Agastache Decoction,For weakness of spleen and stomach qi, vomiting and retching, inability to retain food, cold hands and feet, and thick, sticky saliva and phlegm. It also treats symptoms resembling shortness of breath without actual shortness of breath, the urge to vomit without actually vomiting, deep-seated mental confusion, and a sense of oppression, confusion, and restlessness. It is also used for various malaria-like diseases where water, broth, porridge, or medicine is vomited immediately upon ingestion, as well as for chronic gastric reflux.

Drug Formulation

Agastache (stems removed): 6 liang; Ginseng (sliced): 6 liang; Pinellia (washed 7 times in boiling water, processed with ginger juice): 2.5 liang.

Coarsely grind the ingredients and mix thoroughly with the ginseng.

Instructions for Use

Take 3 qian per dose; add 10 slices of fresh ginger to 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until reduced to 1 zhan, strain, and drink in one gulp.

Note

Contraindicated for pregnant women.
