Drug Formulation

9.6 kg of tangerine peel, 3.6 kg of bitter almond paste, 9.6 kg of scutellaria root, 9.6 kg of trichosanthes fruit, 9.6 kg of platycodon root, 9.6 kg of poria, 9.6 kg of xuanhuo root, 9.6 kg of ephedra, 7.2 kg of licorice root, 7.2 kg of processed pinellia, and 14.4 kg of perilla.

Processing

Of the above ingredients, grind the aged tangerine peel into a powder and sieve through a 100-mesh sieve; grind the bitter almond paste into a powder and sieve through an 80-mesh sieve. After extracting the oil from the perilla, decoct the remaining eight ingredients twice in water for 2–3 hours each time. Filter the decoction and concentrate it to a specific gravity of 1.38–1.40 (measured hot) to form a clear paste;Next, thoroughly mix the powdered Chen Jupi and bitter almond paste with the Perilla oil, add powdered sugar equivalent to 200% of the clear paste’s weight, then mix thoroughly with the clear paste to form granules. Dry, sieve, and package to obtain the final product. Each packet contains 9 g.
