Processing

Chop all the above herbs into pieces the size of beans, soak them in oil for three nights, simmer over alternating high and low heat until the mixture turns dark yellow, then strain out the residue. Return the liquid to the heat and bring to a boil. First add yellow丹, then silver朱. Stir continuously with three liang of willow branches until the color changes slightly. Remove from heat and continue stirring vigorously until it forms a paste. Test by dripping a drop into water—it should form a bead that does not disperse, and the consistency should be just right, neither too light nor too heavy, neither too warm nor too cold. Then, add the powdered herbs in the following order: first, pine resin, frankincense, myrrh, and dragon’s blood; second, dragon bone, tiger bone, Shaofeng powder, conch powder; third, white ding, scorpion, pangolin scales, and earthworm; fourth, mercury oxide, borneol, musk, and camphor. Add dog skull bone (burned to ash and ground into powder), stir thoroughly, transfer to a porcelain jar, dig a pit, and bury it for three nights to remove the fire toxicity.
