Drug Formulation

8 liang of Atractylodes lancea, 3 liang of Aconitum carmichaeli, 2 liang of apricot kernels, 2 liang of Ligusticum chuanxiong, 2 liang of Angelica dahurica, 2 liang of Pinellia ternata (one formula includes 5 qian each of frankincense, myrrh, musk, and earthworms).

Processing

Coarsely chop the ingredients. Use 2 jin of fresh ginger and1 jin of scallions, to extract the juice and moisten the mixture. Layer the herbs in a jar, seal it tightly, and bury it in the ground. Remove it after 3 days in spring, 5 days in summer, 7 days in autumn, and 9 days in winter, then dry it in the sun. Add 2 liang each of Alpinia officinarum, Aquilaria agallocha, Achyranthes bidentata, and Carthamus tinctorius, along with 4 liang each of Angelica sinensis, Smilax glabra, and Solanum nigrum root. Grind all ingredients into a fine powder, then form into pills the size of a Paulownia seed using aged wine as a binder.
