Drug Formulation

1 qian of Tiannanxing, 2 qian of Talc (both ground into powder), half a qian of mercury powder, 100 slices of Wutai (kernels only), and 50 seeds of Croton tiglium (shells removed, oil retained).

Processing

First, grind the croton seeds to a very fine powder; next, add the wutai seeds (kernels) and grind them together; then incorporate the remaining ingredients and grind the mixture to a very fine powder. Form into pills the size of millet grains using soft, steamed rice.

Instructions for Use

Take 3–5 pills per dose, adjusting the amount according to the child’s age. Swallow them on an empty stomach with raw scallions soaked in rice water; taking the dose near bedtime is particularly effective. If food is lodged above the diaphragm, it must be expelled through vomiting; if it is below the diaphragm, the formula will induce purgation.
