Drug Formulation

Yellow wax (sliced) 1 liang, snake shed (burned to ash, ground) 1 fen, lead丹 (water-floated and ground) 1 liang, mercury 1 fen, cinnabar (ground, a small amount), 1 chicken eggshell (from a newly hatched black chicken; the inner white and membrane must be completely removed; use only the shell, ground to a powder).

Processing

First, melt the beeswax into a liquid. Next, add the remaining ingredients and stir with a willow branch until a paste forms. Wait until no traces of mercury are visible, then shape into pills the size of a pea. Press them into flat discs, coat them with cinnabar powder, and store them in a bed of cinnabar powder.

Instructions for Use

Use one cake at a time; place it in the eye before going to bed. Upon waking at daybreak, open the eye and discard it into a water bowl; a film will have formed on the surface. Rinse the medicine again, coat it with cinnabar powder, and set it aside to cure. The water bowl should be placed beside the head in advance.
