Drug Formulation

2 liang of Yao Cassia (with coarse bark removed), 1 liang of Northern Asarum (thoroughly cleaned of mud and grime), 8 qian of Dried Ginger, and 5 qian of Cloves.

Grind the ingredients into a coarse powder.

Instructions for Use

For mild cases, use 2–3 fen of each ingredient; apply a warm, thin poultice over the area. For severe cases, use 3–5 qian of each ingredient separately; mix into a moist, warming poultice mixture, spread it on the affected area, and add approximately 1 fen of musk.

Note

Contraindicated in cases of Yang-excess with wind, fire, or heat toxins.
