Drug Formulation

3 units of Taiyuan (i.e., male umbilical cord, dried on a tile while retaining its essence), 7 qian of aged palm kernels (preferably several decades old, burned to ash while retaining their essence), 3 fen of Beijing cow bile, 5 qian of locust pods (large and plump, dried on a tile while retaining their essence), 3 qian of hedgehog skin (roasted with vinegar), 4 qian of elephant skin (roasted with vinegar),3 qian of Sanguisorba officinalis (sun-dried).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; mix with clarified butter to form pills the size of silkworm eggs. If unable to form pills, add a small amount of glutinous rice paste to bind them.
