Drug Formulation
1 liang of realgar; 3 liang of Wenha (also known as gallnut; crushed, washed, and roasted); 2 liang of mountain arrowhead (peeled, washed, and roasted); 1.5 liang of red-bud Euphorbia (peeled, washed, and thoroughly dried); 1 liang of Qianjinzi (also known as Xusui seed; shelled, ground, and oil removed to obtain the powder); 5 qian of cinnabar; 3 qian of musk.

Processing
Except for realgar, cinnabar, Qianjinzi, and musk—which are ground separately—the remaining three ingredients are ground into a fine powder. Then, add the previously ground four ingredients and grind them together until uniform. Mix with glutinous rice paste to form a dough, roll it out to a thickness of just over one qian, and cut into 40 cakes the size of a coin. Air-dry them in the shade.

Instructions for Use
Grind fresh ginger and peppermint juice with well water and take orally; for adults suffering from stroke or various types of epilepsy, grind with wine and take orally; for children with acute or chronic convulsions, the “Five Wasting Diseases” and “Eight Types of Dysentery,” divide one cake into five doses, add one peppermint leaf, grind with well water, and take orally; for locked jaws, apply the paste to the area to immediately release the jaw; for boils, abscesses on the back, carbuncles, and all types of malignant sores, grind with well water and take orally or apply to the affected area.For unruptured sores, the itching will subside immediately upon application; for headaches, grind the pill with mint in wine until smooth, then apply it to the temples using a paper flower. For those with robust constitutions, divide one cake into two doses; for those with weak constitutions, divide one cake into three doses. Generally, when taking this elixir, if it passes through the system 1–2 times, the effect is particularly rapid. If you do not wish for it to pass through, supplement with rice porridge. If applied to sores, they will disappear immediately.
