Drug Formulation

2 liang of Gongzi lime (prepared by roasting with soapberry over a fire until all smoke has dissipated), 2 he of glutinous rice (stir-fried until cooked with Pinellia tuber, Angelica sinensis, and red peony root), 7 sand snails (i.e., land snails, shelled), and 7 spotted cats (stir-fried until cooked with the rice; remove legs and wings.Pound all the above ingredients together into a fine powder, store in an iron jar for future use), 1 jin of mulberry wood ash, 1 jin of sesame straw ash, 1 jin of soapberry ash, 1 jin of buckwheat straw ash, and 1 jin of kiln camphor (leach the ash from all these ingredients together to yield approximately 3 dou of lye).

Instructions for Use

Place the mixture in a large pot and simmer over low heat until the volume is reduced by one-third; when a white frost forms on the surface of the liquid, transfer it to a porcelain container. When treating toxic sores, mix this liquid with the aforementioned medicine and apply it in small dabs. After 3–5 applications, the sore will naturally rupture and the toxin dissipate; if applied at the onset, it will rupture immediately; if there is no pus, the toxin will dissipate; if there is pus, it will drain out.

Note

If the sore is oozing fluid, do not puncture it.
