Drug Formulation

3 liang of Wei Rui, 3 liang of Sheng Ma, 3 liang of Ji Bi, 3 liang of Ren Shen, 2 liang of Da Huang (chopped, stir-fried), 4 liang of Huang Qin (black core removed), 4 liang of Ge Gen (chopped), 4 liang of Zi Cao (root tip removed), 4 liang of Xi Jiao (chipped),2 liang of Gardenia seeds, 2 liang of sodium silicate, 2.5 liang of silver scales, 3 liang of pork fat (from the 12th lunar month), 5 liang of dew-soaked bee hives, 2 liang of licorice (roasted, chopped), and 1 he of soybeans (soaked overnight, sun-dried, roasted, and hulled).

Processing

Grind all the above herbs, except for the lard and silver scales, into a fine powder. Mix with 2 sheng of ash-free wine, seal with honey, and let steep overnight. Next, render the lard in 1 sheng of good wine, mix it with the silver scales, and stir the mixture into the wine-herb mixture from before; let it steep for another night.
