Drug Formulation

5 jin of Wudengtoucao (harvested in February–March, semi-dried in the shade), 2 jin of sesame oil, 2 qian of realgar, 2 qian of dragon’s blood, 2 qian of musk, 1 qian of borneol, 2 fen of white lead, 1 qian of dried ginger, 1 qian of Sichuan aconite, and 1 qian of wild aconite.

Processing

Fry the Five-Lamp-Head Grass in the oil until charred, strain out the residue, and simmer until a drop of the mixture forms a bead when dropped into water. Add realgar to thicken the ointment; for approximately 1 jin of oil, add 7 liang of realgar. Grind the remaining herbs into a powder, store it, and keep it on hand for future use.
