From *Treatise on the Four Major Syndromes of Wind-Consumption, Ascites, and Diaphragmatic Obstruction*.

Processing

Wash them thoroughly, then soak in clean water to remove all mud. Place them upside down in a basin overnight. Next, take 2 liang of clean Coptis chinensis, slice it, and decoct it into a concentrated decoction to make one small cup of paste. Then place the snails right-side up in the basin and dry them in the sun. When the shells crack open, insert one spoonful of the Coptis paste into each.After one night, the snails will have dissolved into liquid. Collect the snail liquid, then add one cup each of cypress leaf juice, chive root juice, human milk, cow’s milk, goat’s milk, and pig’s milk, along with one liang of refined honey and a piece of pure gold. Simmer in a sand-lined cauldron until it becomes a paste, then store in a porcelain container.
